by Peter Deadman and Mazin Al‑Khafaji, with Kevin Baker

The Definitive Resource for Students and Practitioners

A Manual of Acupuncture is the primary acupuncture point resource used in colleges and universities throughout the world. Originally a textbook, it is now also available as an Online Edition and Mobile App. A Manual of Acupuncture is designed to help students and practitioners with every aspect of their study and practice.

Hardback Book

Overview

Since its publication in 1998, A Manual of Acupuncture has rapidly become the standard acupuncture point book for students and practitioners throughout the English-speaking world.

With detailed exposition of the names, locations, indications and actions of every point, it is characterised by hundreds of beautiful and anatomically exacting illustrations (one for every point), lengthy commentaries on the points, numerous point combinations drawn from classical texts and comprehensive indexes.

A Manual of Acupuncture is also available in German, French, Italian and Portuguese.

User Reviews

"If Chinese medicine is a treasure house, this book is a large treasure chest overflowing with glittering jewels. The clarity of the illustrations is particularly striking. Authoritative, thoroughly researched, and filled with detailed information of great clinical value, this is a 'must-have' book for students and practitioners alike".

Richard Blackwell, Academic Dean, Northern College of Acupuncture, York, England

"This is an indispensible book for any acupuncturist's library and clinic, an incredible source of knowledge, user-friendly, clear and free from obscurity. From student to practitioner to teacher, this is a book to grow with."

Dr. Reuven Barak, Israel

"I love your book. It has everything a College Principal would want in recommending a text. For students it will become their ultimate reference manual that will last them their working lives. Your new book really is an outstanding contribution to the field of Chinese medicine. Its level of scholarship is exceptionally high with very full referencing of sources. It is a fantastic book".

Hugh MacPherson, Principal Northern College of Acupuncture, York, England

"We are deeply impressed by this absolutely outstanding work".

Verlag fuer Ganzheitliche Medizin

"The most scholarly, complete and detailed book on points to date; a must for any student and practitioner. The definitive and most authoritative book on points in the English language".

Giovanni Maciocia

"The scope and depth of this book, together with its truly wonderful illustrations, make it a 'must have' for any student or practitioner who is serious about the study of acupuncture".

Dan Bensky

"Finally! It's about time this book was published! For 25 years I've been dancing among French, English, American and Anglo-Chinese compilations of the functions and indications of the points. No single source, nor combination of sources, can match the thoroughness of A Manual of Acupuncture. My teaching has suddenly been made easier".

Joseph Helms, MD, Founding President, American Academy of Medical Acupuncture

"This is truly a well produced, thoughtfully prepared and exhaustively researched book. There is something for everyone. For the student and teacher it is an invaluable aid to learning; for the scholar and the practitioner it will be the work of reference. All will be excited and pleased by the level of excellence achieved by the authors".

Geoff Wadlow, President of The London School of Acupuncture & TCM

"My first choice as an instructional text for channels and points."

Paul Karsten, Seattle Institute of Oriental Medicine

Finally the app for all Acupuncturists I have waited so long for this app and it was so worth the wait. It is the only acupuncture app out there that is exactly what is needed for points. It has the video explaining, where the location is, and even how to needle the point, and you can add your own notes as well. It loads fast on my Galaxy Note 4 and I can even zoom in and out. I have deleted all my other "point" apps since this is all I need now. Great job.

Works fine with android I bought CD and it is the best product for acupuncture. I wanted to buy this app for my smart phone, but I hesitated because of a few reviews said that it is very slow. On my LG phone it works fast and it works better than on my computer. I like it and this product is the must for any one who is in acupuncture field.

Best Acupuncture App, Period I have to admit, switching from an iPhone 4s to a Galaxy Note 3, my only true lament (though I do also find the speech to text and voice command aspect to be clumsy by comparison) was that this app wasn't available. It is by far better than the rest of the acupuncture apps I have explored, which are many. I love the book that this app is based from, & I absolutely love this app! Very glad that it is now available for Android!

Great app! I'm a student studying acupuncture and have found this app to be a very good learning tool. I really love the video instructions, needle depth, angle and contraindications, which are performed clearly and accurately and are very easy to access quickly for each point. Thanks for the great app! Jamie

Would not be without If you use deadman et al for your point location, actions and general reference anyway then this is the app for you. It gets better with every release and is invaluable as a quick source of reference in my practice. The book is more comprehensive, but unfortunately it has the weight and bulk of a small child!! So... If you want something that weighs nothing and won't look out of place on your desk in clinic then this is the solution. I would not dream of going to clinic without it now.

Awesome! I use this just about everyday for acupuncture school and I wouldn't know what to do without it. I can find point quickly if I do not have my book nearby. The videos are great if I cannot understand the exact point location in the book. Highly recommend for school!

The Acupuncture Book This book is awesome. It has so much information in here. I bought a hardcopy at Acupuncture College and still like to use this app for patient education as well as brush up on advanced channel theory. So much easier to take my iPad to patients' homes than my entire book library. I enjoy the extra channels and great images. It's really easy to look up things like symptoms too.

The best... THE app for the budding or practicing acupuncturist. No need to carry the book, it's all there. Excellent drawings, videos for point location, details on TCM and Western symptoms. Indications as a reverse lookup was moved from a major selection. I couldn't find it at first, but have no fear. It's under Reference. Wouldn't practice without it!!
